Job summary
Band 3 Generic Rehabilitation Assistant, Long Term Ventilation/Critical Care.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a new team member to join our therapies team on our Long Term Ventilation / Critical Care Units. This post is based at the University Hospital of Wales. Working hours are Monday to Friday to support the multi-disciplinary therapies team.
This is a ward based rehabilitation assistant role working as part of a dynamic therapies team, comprising of Dietitians, Speech and Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists and Clinical Psychologists.
The successful applicant will need to demonstrate an interest in rehabilitation and previous experience of working in healthcare/therapies would be advantageous. We are looking for people who have:
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Enthusiasm and the desire to learn and develop new skills
Main duties of the job
You will support early rehabilitation, wellbeing and recovery for patients in the Long-term Ventilation / Critical Care Units , assisting with mobility, promoting independence in daily living, aiding communication and supporting nutrition. Supporting resource management, service development and data collection are also part of this role.
A comprehensive training programme will be provided enabling development of skills in the therapeutic professions highlighted above. Continuous professional development is promoted and encouraged.
