Main duties of the job
- Assist and contribute in the moving and handling of patients to achieve physical comfort and minimise the adverse effects of pressure on patient’s skin. Report areas of concern.
- Assist patients to minimise discomfort and pain management.
- Contribute to the ongoing support of patients and their relatives/carers.
- Support registered nurses by carrying out accurate record keeping, taking and relaying verbal and written messages promptly, whilst maintaining patient confidentiality.
- To assist in ward cleanliness daily and complete relevant checklists.
- Participate in clerical duties as required.

Main Duties
- Assist patients with all elements of basic nursing care and the implementation of care plans under the supervision of a registered nurse.
- Assist patients with activities of daily living with regard to their individual needs including personal hygiene, appearance, oral care, fluid and dietary intake requirements.
- Contribute in patient assessments on admission to the ward.
- Monitor and record patients fluid balance and dietary intake, report areas of concern.
- Perform and record patient vital signs and report areas of concern.

Qualifications
Essential
- Minimum NVQ Level 2 in health/health and social care, QCF Diploma in health, *GNVQ, *BTEC in health or health and social care (*required to complete care certificate if not already achieved)
- English equivalent to a minimum of level 2 on the National Qualification Framework
- Numeracy skills equivalent to level 2 on the National Qualification Framework

- Able to undertake shift work including nights, evenings, weekends and bank holidays
