Kettering Dialysis Unit

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, motivated Renal Health Care Assistant within University Hospitals of Leicester. Please see below for more information.

You must have experience working in the NHS and hold an NVQ3 or equivalent. Good written and oral communication skills and the ability to work within a team is essential. Training in haemodialysis will be given and we promote an environment in which you can develop further skills.

You must be able to work flexible shift patterns to suit the needs of the unit.

Unit opening times Monday, Wednesday, Friday 24 hours to include a nocturnal shift.

Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday 07.00-19.00.

Shift times are as follows:

Early 07.00-18.00 or 07.00-15.00

Late 12.00-23.00 or 15.00-23.00 (Mon/Wed/Fri only)

Nights 21.00-08.00 (Mon/Wed/Fri only)

Occasional mid shift 11.00-19.00

Main duties of the job

– Provide clinical and non clinical support to the Multi Professional team under the direction of an appropriate Registered Health Care Professional.- Deliver direct and indirect care as delegated under the direction and supervision of an appropriate Registered Health Care Professional.

– Support the delivery of effective healthcare to patients/ service users by undertaking duties as identified by the Multi Professional Team.- Undertake specified and unsupervised aspects of care and therapeutic intervention as delegated by the Registered Health Care Professional within an agreed protocol, sphere of responsibility and after completing appropriate competency based training

Job responsibilities

DELIVERY OF EFFECTIVE HEALTH CARE WITHIN THE ORGANISATION

Undertake specified direct and indirect care, clinical and therapeutic intervention as delegated by the Registered Nurse / Health Care Professional.

Carry out specified delegated clinical care and support consistent with the patient /users plan of care.

Deliver unsupervised specified care and intervention as prescribed by an appropriate Registered Health Care Professional in accordance to agreed Trust and Directorate policies, procedures and protocols.

Assist the Registered Professional by developing care plans, assessing anddocumenting care, providing verbal and written reports in an effective and safe manner. Make observations of care with regard to supporting the patient/users general health and well-being.

Maintain effective communication with the Registered Nurse / Health CareProfessional regarding issues relating to assigned duties, promptly reporting areas ofconcern.

Assist and support care delivery by only undertaking delegated work that is within own level skill and competence. Carry out duties consistent with individual patient / users wishes, maintaining privacy, dignity and recognizing cultural diversity and needs. Contribute to the overall effectiveness of the care delivered by the Health care team and that benefits the patient/ user experience.
