Job Description

The Zimbabwe Manpower Development Fund (Zimdef) is on the hunt for two skilled and reliable handymen to join the parastatal’s maintenance department. One will be based in Harare and the other will be based in Bulawayo.

You will be responsible for all upkeep and repair duties including maintaining green spaces, identifying the need for repairs, responding to clients’ maintenance requests, and servicing company equipment.

To be an effective handyman, you will be skilled and hard-working, with outstanding problem-solving abilities. Skillful hands, good physical stamina, and strong technical knowledge are important parts of the successful candidates’ talents.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Performing all electrical, mechanical, and plumbing related repairs within the fund and recommending works to be contracted.
Ensuring functionality of all equipment mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems to include generators, air conditioning systems, elevators, and fire suppression systems.
Maintaining safe conditions and safe working practices within all the facilities.
Adhering to buildings statutory health and safety procedures and policies.
Ensuring all building equipment is legally compliant, monitored and recorded as per legislation.
Providing technical assistance in the purchase of new or replacement of electrical, mechanical, and plumbing materials.
Attending to all maintenance queries concerning technical faults and carrying out inspections in all areas.

Qualifications, Competencies and Experience

Skilled Worker Class 1, National Certificate in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Power, Plumbing, Building or related field.
At least 5 O’ level passes including English.
At least three years of relevant experience.
Clean class 4 driver’s license is an added advantage.
