Job Summary
The job holder is responsible for overseeing all activities throughout the department to manage transportation activities and vehicle maintenance activities.
Duties And Responsibilities
•Ensuring compliance of the company with the government regulations governing permits in the transportation industry.
•Taking preventive measures to ensure safety of vehicles and drivers.
•Running a scheduled maintenance plan for all vehicles and monitoring the state of all motor vehicles;
•In consultation and liaison with Stores Controller, co-ordinate and implement deliveries to Branches,
•Check vehicles for legislative compliance (in vehicle kits) and mechanical fitness, and, in consultation with Fleet Mechanic, facilitate maintenance and repair.
•Co-ordinate outbound distributions to maximize revenue and optimize to avoid dead heading.
•Facilitate the repairs requests for repairs of fleet and assigning of departmental duties for repairs.
•Checking the state of the workshops and supervising mechanics.
•Responsible for transport risk management in line with organisational and departmental goals.
•Organising VID tests.
•Overseeing the maintenance of and repairs of motor vehicles.
Qualifications And Experience
•Degree / diploma in Transport and Logistics or equivalent qualification
•Mechanical background is an added advantage
•At least five years experience.
•Clean Class 2 Drivers license.
•Valid Defensive Driving Certificate.
•Experience of working in a multicultural environment.
•Fluent verbal and written communication skills.
•Ability to foster team oriented goals.
•Proficient in Computers skills.
