Higherlife Foundation (Higherlife) is a social impact organization that invests in human capital to build thriving individuals, communities, and sustainable livelihoods. Founded by Strive and Tsitsi Masiyiwa in 1996, the Foundation was first launched in Zimbabwe and has since spread its footprint to Lesotho, Burundi, Rwanda, Swaziland, South Africa, and Kenya. Higherlife Foundation implements projects in Education; Health; Rural Transformation and Sustainable Livelihoods; and Disaster Relief and Preparedness impacting millions of lives in the communities it serves.

The Role
The GIS Intern will support the M&E function in ensuring integration of Geographic Information System in current and new projects to ensure geospatial maps and analytics are done. The incumbent will also coordinate collection and collation of internal and external Geospatial data across projects. This position will also entail synthesis of huge volumes of data to produce GIS visuals for use in strategic and operational decisions.

Key Responsibilities
Collect GPS data across different projects
Create database for Geospatial data
Conduct data analysis and produce fit for purpose Maps and synthesis
Drive internal awareness on GIS across teams
Support internal and external reporting obligations
Research and share new emerging knowledge on harnessing power of GIS in social development work.

Participate in relevant symposia, conferences aligned to the areas of strategic focus to add value to the strategic focus of Delta/HLF
Liaison role with specific government departments especially ZIMSTAT for macro-level geospatial data
Support production of articles, white papers and opinion pieces for publishing in reputable platforms

Skills and Qualifications
HND/Degree in Geosciences, Geography, Surveying or related field
Quantitative and qualitative data analytics fully conversant with ArcGIS, Power BI, Tableau
At least one-year professional working experience in Hands on GIS environment
Online training in Data Visualization and reporting
Data Collection experience and ability to engage multi-stakeholders.
Team player, operations research and project management
Good communication and writing skills
Data Visualization passion an added advantage
Competent reporting and communication

Required skills
Quantitative and qualitative data analytics fully conversant with ArcGIS, Power BI, Tableau
